I am a massive fan of technology and truly embrace it across all aspects of my life, but I do also agree that it is good to go dark sometimes, to switch off from the digital world even if it is only for a while.

Now that the weather is warmer, I have begun to walk the dogs early in the morning.  I just throw on a pair of gym shorts, a t-shirt, a baseball cap to hide the mess of hair, harness two dogs up and head on out in my flip flops for a little walk in the sun.

I have been able to do this most mornings for the past week and a half and am really enjoying the little detox that I am getting.  Leaving my mobile in the house, I can fully appreciate the sun in the morning (a rarity in the UK to say the least), and I get to fully engross myself into the life of two little chihuahua’s who are happily smelling and peeing wherever they like.

It only takes the three of us half an hour to walk the little loop around the block, but it is the most peaceful thirty minutes of my day.  

Life can get hectic at times and I know the feeling when it all gets a little too much.  The mind foggies and it is hard to concentrate and find your way forward through the fog.  If this happens, even if you don’t have five lovely little chihuahuas that need your attention, you can still just go for a walk and leave the digital world behind for a few minutes.  Trust me, it will still be there when you get back.

Sometimes it is the simple pleasures in life that can provide you with a soft reset, allow you to clear the fog, detox from the digital world.  Often, we take these simple pleasures for granted.  Make the most of them while you can, and take some time to yourself if you need it.
