Don’t get me wrong, the COVID-19 crisis is awful and will change the World as we know it. My heart goes out to those who have lost loved ones during this dreadful time.
That aside, it is in my nature to look for the lessons and opportunities in situations, regardless of the case.
So, what are the benefits that we can take from all of the hardship that has been enforced upon us through the COVID-19 crisis?
For me it has been the increased ability to work from home. Being around my family more and more has deepened our relationship and created a happier environment for us all to grow. The pace of life has slowed dramatically, there is no rush to get out and go anywhere anymore. Due to this, I am able to observe and immerse myself into my environment even more than I thought was possible.
I have the time to do the work that I want to do. Time has always been our greatest commodity, now we have an abundance of it so must make the most of it whilst it lasts.
More speaking with people and making new relationships. The dichotomy of the COVID-19 crisis; we have been forced into isolation yet seem to be having more meaningful conversations with existing and new connections. As a bit of a tech geek, I have been an advocate of utilising new and existing technology to create and maintain relationships. This crisis has forced nearly everyone to do the same, hopefully this will mean the end to hours upon hours of driving to meetings that drag on and erode time.
Have you thought about how the crisis is affecting you? What are the lessons and opportunities that you have had? Stay home, stay safe, save lives.
